Spring is finally here. We’re almost sure your to-do list already feels too long, but we have a few things that will save you some trouble and keep you cozy in the months to come. The weather is already heating up in Cedar Rapids and the last thing you want is to discover is that you’re facing an AC repair. Going through this short checklist now may save you from sweating this summer.
- Inspect Your Air Filter and Ducts
Changing your air filter makes it to almost all of our lists of tips because it's so important and so often overlooked. If your air filter is a mess, your system will have to work harder to keep you comfortable. This costs you more money and causes more stress on the system which reduces the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are a separate piece of the puzzle that is often overlooked as well. While you're spring cleaning, remove the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers taken off, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and swap them after they've dried.
- Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units free of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can inhibit your system and cause it to reduce its efficiency.
- Schedule Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we come in to help you work on that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up prolongs the life of your system and keeps it working at top efficiency. Spring is the ideal time to schedule your tune-up so any issues or AC repair that needs to be made can be taken care of before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a minimal investment into the life of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with all of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to make sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long.
